Content Delivery Network
Our CDN is a network of edge servers located locally with connection to the internet via high capacity fibre backbones. Content is stored for distribution on secure central streaming servers. Copies of content can then be distributed to thousands of edge caching servers for delivery of the signal to the ‘last mile’ infrastructure. These caching servers are installed directly in the digital centres of the local Internet Service Provider (ISP). As soon as a viewer calls up a live stream, it will be delivered to the local caching server of the ISP. Any further users retrieving the same stream via the network of the same ISP is directly led to the caching server. This mechanism disperses the load and allows an unlimited amount of retrievals. For usage of the CDN, APS offers a rate based on volume so that you only pay for data that you actually use. For total transparency and for your own analysis and management information, APS provides log-files detailing the amount of retrievals and the data volume used on your content.
