Platform for your Content.

Digital Uplink TV

APS Digital Uplink TV Services take your broadcast ready content, channels and signals and comprehensively prepare and process them via the most recent MPEG compression encoding technologies, including the efficient provisioning of bandwidth capacity on the chosen satellite. Whether SD or HD, 16:9 or Dolby Digital 5.1 – our high-end infrastructure allows to air your television channel via satellite for a competitive price at the highest quality using variable bandwidths adjusted to your required resolution. For your peace of mind, all our systems are fully redundant so that we can guarantee a very high availability, plus we monitor the full broadcast chain via our fully manned 24/7 Network Operation Centre (NOC).

Digital Uplink TV overview

Statistical Multiplexing

Until recent times, it was considered that only one analogue television channel could be transmitted in one transponder on a satellite. Now, the smaller space required by a digitally compressed channel means we can transmit several TV channels in that same transponder. We dynamically optimise the compression with an efficient bitrate designation for each signal that is combined in a multiplexer for actual transmission to the satellite. This process is known as statistical multiplexing. Using the most up-to-date scientific methods, APS takes care that your TV channel is always transmitted with optimal picture quality, whilst using the most efficient and economic bandwidth capacity.

Quality levels

APS offers Digital Uplink TV Services in different resolutions to meet your quality and budgetary
expectations. For example, standard definition 625 line television with a pixel count of 720 x 576 is defined as quality level 4, however you can for example, choose to limit the pixel count to 352 x 576 to reduce the overall amount of information to be processed and consume less bandwidth on the satellite. This helps save you money on bandwidth costs with the trade off being a reduction in the sharpness/quality of the transmitted signal.
